Witold Chrominski was an engineer - he graduated from Gdansk University of Technology. In 1945-50 he was the director of several Polish sugar refineries in Lower Silesia. In 1951-54 he was the Technical Director of the Szczecin Shipyard. In the middle of the 1950s he stopped working as an engineer and devoted himself to travelling and photographing. For example, he travelled with Arkady Fiedler to Canada (1960-61). Earlier, when he had lived in Lower Silesia, he was active in the Wroclaw Photography Association. After he had moved to Szczecin, he joined the Szczecin Photography Association. Two years later, he became a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. In 1954, he published an article in the 'Fotografia' magazine, in which he presented the theoretical foundations of the simple tone-separation method which he called 'izoprint'. In 1970, he was accepted to the International Federation of The International Federation of Photographic Art. He also created marine photographs, photographs of the Polish cities and of Szczecin theatre, portraits, and nude photographs.
