Being a versatile photographer, Kamiński has made extraordinary portraits, among many other types of photographic works. This portrait exemplifies his skilful photojournalist’s eye. The artist explained the work as follows: "Old and weary but also thoughtful face of a woman who has already lived most of her life. Hence the composition of the photograph, where the face is approaching the right edge of the picture, just as she is approaching her life’s end. Behind her, near the left edge, is the past, but her eyes keep escaping towards the present."
The work has received wide international acclaim and has been exhibited in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Brazil, Australia, and the United States.
